An AI writing assistant in every text box: Gmail, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and the rest

By KittyHome · · 3 min read

Most AI writing tools live in their own tab: you copy your text in, copy the answer out, and fix the formatting. The KittyHome extension brings the assistant to the text box you're already in. Press Alt+K anywhere to write from a short prompt, or pause while typing in Gmail, LinkedIn or WhatsApp Web and a suggestion appears; Tab takes it. It's free to start with 25 requests a day.

Write from a prompt, in any text box

Click into a text box on any site, press Alt+K (or the ✨ button next to the box) and say what you want: "politely say I'm busy until Friday", "thank them and ask for the slides", "a two-line bio for this profile". The draft appears next to the box. Insert it, replace everything, or try again.

Suggestions while you type

In the places where you write the most messages, it suggests the rest for you. Pause for a moment and a suggestion appears, written from your draft and the last few messages of the conversation. Tab inserts it and Esc dismisses it. It works in:

  • Gmail and Outlook
  • LinkedIn messages
  • WhatsApp Web and Telegram Web
  • Discord

Reply faster in email

In your inbox it can summarize a long email in a few lines and offer one-click reply ideas. On Pro it also writes subject lines and an inbox digest, a short read of what came in and what needs an answer.

Choose the tone

Pick a style and a length in the popup. Free has friendly, professional and casual; Pro and Ultimate add funny, formal, persuasive and empathetic, and long answers of a few paragraphs.

Writing that sounds like you, not like AI

AI drafts tend to sound the same: too polished, too many lists, words nobody says out loud. On Pro, Sound like me rewrites a draft so it reads like a person wrote it — on the page, from Alt+K, or on the writing desk — and shows a sounds-like-you score. On Ultimate, Your voice learns how you write from your own samples and notes, and writes that way everywhere.

A writing desk on every new tab

Open a new tab and there's a desk: write from a prompt, or paste a draft and Polish it, make it Friendlier, More professional or Shorter, Translate it or Explain it. The draft is saved in your browser, and your cat watches you type above the desk. You can switch the desk off and keep Chrome's own new tab.

Private by default

  • Nothing about the pages you visit is sent anywhere unless you use the assistant.
  • When you do, it sends only what it needs: the text you selected, or your draft, the last few messages of that conversation and the page title.
  • Password, card and one-time code fields are never touched.
  • Each feature has its own switch in the popup.

Plans

Free has 25 requests a day and the everyday features. Pro is $12.99 a month for 300 requests a day, every style and length, Sound like me, subject lines, the digest and web lookups with sources. Compare the plans.
