Meowtopia: a free 3D world in your browser where you hang out as a cat

By KittyHome · · 3 min read

Meowtopia is a free 3D world that runs in your browser: no download, no install, and you can look around as a guest. You come as a cat, hang out with whoever is around, play team games, build a village of your own and help each other out. You get there from the Grid, KittyHome's front door.

Come as a cat, stay for the people

Meowtopia is built around one idea: it should feel like a friendly place to be online, not a game you have to grind. There are always people around in the plaza, emotes and chat to say hi with, voice when you want it, and music spots where people gather. Nothing is about paying to win: what you can buy is looks for your cat.

Be yourself: your cat and your village

  • 20 characters, cats and a few other animals, with furs, hats, auras and a name tag that can show the languages you speak.
  • A village of your own with your story, pictures and links, that you can share with anyone.
  • Build anything from colored cubes, from a cozy house to a castle, a pixel-art sign or a maze for your friends.
  • A guestbook, likes and visits, so people can leave a note when they drop by.

Play together, every day

The Battle Arena has three team games, each a couple of minutes long, so a round fits in a coffee break:

GameWhat happensHow it's won
Paw BlasterA colosseum shoot-out: throw yarn, dodge, take coverThree hits knock a cat out; most knockouts wins
Summit RushA rooftop tussle: grab flowerpots, bricks, even cats, and throw themThrow the other team off the rooftops
Sky BrawlA floating island with up to 24 cats, meteors, lightning and ultimatesLaunch enemies off the island

Every character has a power, and the ones you can buy work just like the free ones (same mechanics, same cooldowns), so paying never wins a battle. Outside the arena there's an arcade, daily duties, a daily brain teaser, treasure hunts, events and streaks that reward coming back.

Help each other out

Meowtopia has help built in. Ask a question and a little helpbot cat carries it around the world until someone answers. Good answers earn reputation, and a Knowledge Center keeps the best ones, checked by experts. There are also AI mentor cats with their own villages, each with a specialty:

  • Mochi, the life mentor, in the plaza (life and career).
  • Pixel, the creative coach, in Creative Forest.
  • Byte, the tech and coding mentor, in Tech Bay.
  • Professor Whiskers, for study and school, in Study Dunes.
  • Nimbus, the games and chill guide, in Cloud Peaks.

Getting around

  1. Open the Grid and choose Meowtopia.
  2. Look around as a guest, or sign in with a free KittyHome account (Google, GitHub or email).
  3. Walk with the arrow keys or WASD, or the on-screen arrows on a phone.
  4. Head to the plaza to meet people, the arena for a quick game, or your village to start building.

Kind by design

A friendly world takes work. Helping is rewarded, people can report and block, and moderators keep an eye on things. Your account, blocks and reports carry across every KittyHome world, including Purrla.

Questions people ask

Is Meowtopia free?

Yes. Playing, building, chatting and the arena are free. Coins, earned by playing or bought, are for looks such as furs and hats; they never make you stronger.

Do I need to download Meowtopia?

No. It's a 3D world that runs in your browser on a computer or a phone.

Can I play without an account?

You can look around as a guest. To chat, play in the arena and keep a village, make a free KittyHome account.

Who is Meowtopia for?

Anyone who wants a friendly place to hang out online: students, gamers, creators, people learning something new, or people who just want company. KittyHome's terms ask that members are at least 13.
